Infinitopes – Science x Entrepreneurship Talk

On Friday 3rd December, Dr Jonathan Kwok, alumnus from our department, gave an exciting talk to 30 of us on his exciting new spin-out company, Infinitopes! Jonathan was an intern in the Humphrey lab, is the CEO/Co-founder of Infinitopes Cancer Vaccines, Oncologist, Immunologist, and Clinical Vaccinologist, and Oxford’s Lead Fellow for the COV-Boost and COV009 COVID-19 vaccine trials.

It was an enlightening talk – we learned about the processes involved in turning cool science into a company: who’s helpful in Oxford, how to raise money, route to translation… Ultimately, it was a brilliant crash course on how to explain the clinical perspective (why), the science fundamentals (how), the route to human trials (what next), and how to start your own biotech company (when, who, how much), and how to take advantage of the abundant resources available to us at Oxford for entrepreneurial pursuits. The session ended with a lively Q&A with Jonathan and his co-founders Lian Ni and Senthil, and Jonathan’s book recommendation Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss.
